My new favorite subject

Whenever I speak to people about my faith I used to always go back to Righteousness. I still have so much to say on the subject but recently it is death. Yes Death. It is surprising that we don’t hear about it when you go to church on Sunday, and I don’t know why, since the Bible has so much to say on it.

You probably think I am kidding but you will be surprised. 442 times in the Bible (ESV) 141 in the NT (ESV)

Now in most cases, admittedly, talking about death has no good in it, and looking at these verses it is not meant for edification, but there are a few good things about death…

Now the death I am referring to is the death to self and the death to sin.

I will in time to come post more on the subject but today I just want to emphasise this verse:

Rom 6:3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Now in order that we can have a NEW LIFE the OLD LIFE first has to DIE, too many of us tries to keep both going and that is why so many people struggle. Just kill that old man. He has no more use, so we can live to Christ.

Now in faith we must rise from the dead, and live, not doing our old deeds, but in newness.

Every time you have any desire that is not according to your new life you say to yourself NO I am dead to that and I am not going to do it ANYMORE, then you see what happens. This is what faith is.
