Not Under the LAW but Under Grace

Rom 6:14b , because you are not under the law, but under grace

Everyone loves to know that there is now Grace. We are not under the Law but under Grace. Correct. But how did you get to be under Grace and not the Law, or is everyone now under grace?

Rom 7 So, my brothers and sisters, you also DIED to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

In Rom 7 he describes how a person gets released from the law.

Rom 7:2 by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband DIES, she is released from the law that binds her to him.

Now in the same way while we are still alive to sin you are bound to it. But once you died to it then ,only then , can you be under the NEW system called Grace. You see it is not the same system. It is a TOTALLY new system and the way to it implies DEATH through the cross of Jesus.

Rom 6:6For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

The term HAS DIED and WAS CRUSIFIED are both past tense. This is how you must see yourself.  Rom4:17 who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were.   Now we call the things which are not(present tense) as they were (past tense). When we do find yourself tempted to sin, you say by faith NO I am dead to it, I am not a slave to sin but to Righteousness. Rom6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

While we are still very alive to sin, we are under the LAW but once you die to self and sin’s dominion then we can enter into a new system called Grace where sin does not have dominion.
