2 Cor 5:19-21 : …who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation .. not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
The ministry of reconciliation, this is the core of the gospel. To be reconciled to God. If you make the purpose of your faith to be reconciled to God, you will notice that he has given us everything to achieve this. I will try to explain. It is our sins that has brought devision between us and God, and for that he has given us a sacrifice, the Blood of Christ.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
That takes care of our past sins but what about our sinful nature? Wont that continually bring a new devisions between us and God? This is where righteousness is so important.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes … for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith,as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
2 Cor 5:20 …be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Now even though we might still falter we know that through faith God has declared us righteousness. So now we live in this Righteousness we don’t see ourselves as we were but a new creation, one that lives for the purposes of God and not according to the our own desires. What about when we do falter? Then there is grace not to sin but to live righteous. All this is the outcome of our faith since we believe the word of God above our experiences.
